Frequently asked questions
When is the best time to visit Nepal?
For clear mountain views and trekking, March–May and October–November are usually the most popular. Monsoon (June–August) brings rain, but some areas such as Mustang are drier. See each destination for details.
Do I need a visa?
Most visitors need a visa. Rules change, so check the Department of Immigration before you travel.
Do I need a guide for trekking?
Rules differ by region and change over time. Even where not required, a registered guide can improve safety. Confirm current permit rules.
